Work that doesn't really exist.

These recent work posts remind me that we get asked to design and work on plenty of things that never see the light of day. TV Pilots, pitches, and adver-things. Here are a few things that I found quickly.

A design for Coffee-Mate brand non-dairy creamers. The concept was to "Stir It Up" but apparently "get into a fight" is more "Mix It Up." You were going to be able to sort of stir up the page by mousing over and arty-farty things would happen.:

Here are some site designs for Valley Fresh Chicken that didn't happen. They wanted something that felt hand-made but not too hand-made using the existing logo.

Here's a drawing that Vincent did that I still really love. It's for a "Line Rider" clone/spin-off called "Vine Rider" that never happened.

We drew and animated a couple episodes of a mobile phone series version of Mike Parker's "Nature Show." Then the funding from the mobile distribution company fell through and it kind of went into limbo. Now mobile phones can access YouTube so this sort of thing will probably never happen again.

Recent Work: Giga Girls Logo

Giga Girls is an organization for young women interested in technology. PUNY / Dave created the logo.

More recent work, the SKETCHPAD

I've quite enjoyed these brief trips down memory lane while posting about past projects, so here's another one we worked on for a very long time that just went live a few weeks ago. I know Mike posted about this a recently, but there is just so much to show! We worked with DRAFT FCB in New York for the ONDCP's ABOVE THE INFLUENCE campaign.

Check out the SKETCHPAD here!

We provided most of the animation for the site, as well as a little sound engineering. Here's the animated intro.

More recent work.

A couple weeks ago we did some work on Edina Realty's new campaign. We worked with the good people over at Proximity Worldwide's Minneapolis office on their site, WEFOUNDEACHOTHER.COM as well as the banner ads that accompany the site.

These are the first banner ads we've worked on that I've seen in wide distribution on the web, it was really interesting.

Provista Illustrations

We did some work a while ago for Provista, with our friends over at Colle+McVoy. We provided the illustrations for their handy-dandy WHAT WE DO video.

GO CHECK IT OUT!

Nickelodeon Universe Opened last week! So I hunted for a map.

Nickelodeon Universe opened last weekend at the Mall of America. I was there to witness the festivities, and to try to get a hold of the new Nickelodeon Universe Map that we here at PUNY have been working on for so long now.

I set out early on Saturday morning in order to be where the action was... the MOA.

As I entered I was surprised to see Lil' JJ from Nickelodeon's Just Jordan working a huge crowd of people.

There were people everywhere, and the new park looked incredible. Lots of new rides and signage, plus new coats of paint on everything. I saw hundreds of people holding their maps, bedazzled by the crisp clean representation of the reality they were now experiencing, but alas, an extra one was nowhere to be found.

I made my way to the rotunda just in time to see pop sensation Ashley Simpson take the stage to sign autographs.

This girl is Ashley Simpson's #1 fan.

There were people everywhere!

Then I found PUNY employee Mitch and his gal.

They had a map, but wouldn't give it to me.

I found these signs featuring our friends from YO GABBA GABBA! Hopefully the mall will get them to come on out and make an appearance.

Out of the corner of my eye I spotted something on the ground. As I approached I was horrified to see that someone had lazily lost or disposed of their map, just thrown it on the ground. I gave it a proper burial, and went on my way. What a waste.

On my way out I found a spare map. It was very exciting to see after so much work on it. Overall I think the park looks fantastic, a drastic improvement on what it was.

Nick Universe Opens the Weekend!

Our work on Yo Gabba Gabba isn't the most Nickelodeon thing in Minneapolis anymore as Nickelodeon Universe's open this Monday, March 15 at the Mall Of America. It's seven acres of Nick, all indoors!

Formerly "Knott's Camp Snoopy" it's interesting to see Nick rebuild, repaint, or re-embrace the Peanuts and Paul Bunyany woodland themes of the park. We had a sneak peak...

Despite Dora being there, it is we..who are...the map, we're the map, we're the map, we're the map, er..we were asked to draw/design the official park map. So Tim has been spending the last five months fussing over every noo..nick and cranny of the park. If you get lost, blame Tim.

The Grand Opening this Saturday includes:

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.

Ashlee Simpson live performance and autograph signing.

Nickelodeon celebrities Lil' JJ (Just Jordan), Miranda Cosgrove (iCarly), Nat Wolff & Alex Wolff (The Naked Brothers Band)

and a 6-8pm Kid's Dance Party with J. Boogie of TEENick.
